Creation of Rules for the Use of Copyright Works inLibraries: On the Localization Development of Controlled Digital Lending (CDL)
Chai Huiming (Tianjin Conservatory of Music Library)
    Libraly Journal. 2024, 43 (393): 31-41.
    摘要 ( 247 )   PDF(CN)(1843KB) ( 243 )

As a rule for the use of copyright works in this industry initiated by libraries, “ControlledDigital Lending (CDL)” demonstrates the initiative efforts of American library community to create rulesfor the use of copyright works based on the DMCA framework. There are three motivations for creatingCDL: significance to digital transformation of library, copyright restrictions on the utilization of digitalresources, and the hindrance facing the large-scale digitization process when library cooperates with theInternet service providers. The localization CDL in Chinese libraries can seek legitimacy paths from bothlegal and market perspectives. In this process, the library industry needs to adopt corresponding responsestrategies based on the characteristics of industry development.

Research on the Performance of Book-Centered City Construction Based on the “Path-Target” Theory
Wei Yong, Chen Yuqi (College of State Governance, Southwest University)
    Libraly Journal. 2024, 43 (393): 59-69.
    摘要 ( 198 )   PDF(CN)(1916KB) ( 291 )

Based on the “path-target” theoretical framework, this paper takes 38 districts and countiesin Chongqing as cases, and uses the fuzzy set qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA) method toexplore the linkage effect of leadership, residents and environment on the construction performance ofscholarly cities. The results show that: (1)The single factor of leaders, residents and environment does notconstitute the necessary conditions for high construction performance. (2) There are four driving paths forhigh-level construction performance: resident leading, environmental support, collaborative promotionand administrative mobilization. Resident factors play a universal role in the configuration of highlevelconstruction performance. (3) The effective combination of all factors improves the constructionperformance in a way that leads to the same destination, and there are complementary effects undercertain conditions. In short, multi-case study show that the construction of scholarly city is not “the onlypath”, nor is it the privilage of developed cities. Underdeveloped areas can also succeed as long as theyfind the right direction and make precise efforts.

Research on the Construction Method and Distribution Law of Object-Image Database for Ancient Poetry
Liu Maolin, Zhao Meng , Wang Hao( School of Information Management, NanjingUniversity, Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Data Engineering and Knowledge Service)
    Libraly Journal. 2024, 43 (393): 96-108.
    摘要 ( 295 )   PDF(CN)(18367KB) ( 289 )

From the perspective of digital humanities, ancient poetry resources are of great value butdifficult to be analyzed at scale. The research on the automatic construction method of knowledge base ofancient poetry is conducive to the analysis and research of ancient poetry from a macro perspective and themining of its value. Firstly, based on the concept of “object image”, the key information in ancient poemsis extracted to reduce the complexity of analysis to build an automated process. Secondly, roberta-BilstMCRFmodel is constructed based on deep learning method, and object image is extracted from ancient poetrycorpus. Then, The Whole Tang Dynasty Poems and some Song Dynasty poetry resources are used to verifythe feasibility and universality of the model. Finally, the object image database of The Whole Tang DynastyPoems is constructed successfully, and the distribution law of the object images is preliminarily analyzed. After using the automatic tagging corpus training model, the F1 scores of common nouns, time nounsand place names reached 89.6%, 93.3% and 93.6% respectively. The model was transferred to the SongDynasty poetry corpus that was not used for training, and the extraction density was 4.5 objects per poem, which showed the ability to discover unknown words, indicating that the model has good universality andexpansibility.

    摘要 ( 370 )   PDF(CN)(2923KB) ( 504 )

construction status, characteristics, prototype system, problems and application prospects offarming image knowledge organization in the digital era, which provides reference for a new paradigmof farming image research. By using literature research and case study, it summarizes the typical imagerepositories at home and abroad, and combining the characteristics of farming images, thus proposes afour-layer prototype system for farming image knowledge organization. The prototype system reveals therealization path of resource processing layer, image annotation layer, data association layer, and applicationservice layer of ancient Chinese farming images. At the same time, this paper also proposes the key issues tobe solved in the knowledge organization of farming images, and looks at its prospective application value, inorder to provide reference for related cultural heritage and digital humanities projects.

Solving increasingly frequent and complex public crises need crisis information managementprofessionals. iSchools in North America have rich experience and a mature system of training talentsin crisis information management, which can provide reference for Chinese iSchools to implementcrisis informatics instructions. This paper reviewed existing studies in the literature, investigated onlineinformation provided by iSchools in North America, summarized the crisis informatics course model ofiSchools in North America, and analyzed its instruction system from the following perspectives: teachingobjectives, course content, instruction mechanisms, course outcomes, human resources in teaching, andgraduate employment rate. Given the demand for crisis information management talents in China and thelack of relative education mechanism, this paper proposes suggestions such as seizing the opportunity ofdiscipline reform and implementing crisis information management instruction, overcoming disciplinarybarriers and promoting the cooperation of multiple stakeholders, responding to multi-dimensional needs, enriching the education system and teaching forms, paying attention to the combination of theories andpractices, and establishing a comprehensive teaching and outcomes assessment mechanism.

Lin Zhenyue (School of Humanities, Shanghai Jiao Tong University)
    Libraly Journal. 2024, 43 (393): 129-140.
    摘要 ( 310 )   PDF(CN)(1784KB) ( 331 )

In the past, it was generally believed that the Jingshi Library (1909—1928) had preservedthree editions of rare books catalog. In fact, the librarians, namely Miao Quansun, Wang Maorong, JiangHan, Xia Zengyou, Zhang Zongxiang and Shi Xiyong, had compiled six editions of rare books which asa model for compiling public collections of rare books in modern times. Based on historical records andinvestigations into existing manuscript copies, this article divides the process of cataloging at the JingshiLibrary into three periods: the embryonic stage, the concise catalog stage and the rare book catalog stage. It also amplifies the three rare book catalog editions compiled by Wang Maorong, Zhang Zongxiang andShi Xiyong. The practice of compiling rare book catalogs at the Jingshi Library reflects the process oftransferring modern collection from private to public and standardizing rare book cataloging. It also set aprecedent for public library compiling rare book catalogs. These historical catalogs record the historicalappearance of ancient books and the early cataloging achievements of the national library, leaving six“historical archives” of rare books in the collection of the Jingshi Library. These archives can provideimportant evidence for investigating the whereabouts of the rare books in the Jingshi Library.
