Enlightenment of Hong Fanwu’s Library Science Thoughtsand Their Impact: Content Analysis Based on Citations of Library Organization and Management

Abstract: Hong Fanwu is one of the founding figures of modern library science in China. This paperbegins with his book Library Organization and Management and employs citation content analysisto explore the far-reaching impact of his library science thoughts on library science in China. LibraryOrganization and Management attaches equal importance to historical data value and theoretical value,has been mainly cited in library history research, and has far-reaching influence. What are cited mostlyin argument and as inspiration are mainly library science theories. They are mainly based on objectiveanalysis and explanation, whereas some are positive evaluation. Its cited themes include library sciencetheory, library business, and library philosophy, which respectively reflect Hong Fanwu’s localizationthoughts, theory-to-practice thoughts, and people-oriented values. This is of great significance to theconstruction of library science with Chinese characteristics, the development of librarianship, andresponsible innovation of libraries.
