An Empirical Study on the Reading Promotion of Special Collections in University Libraries: An Example of Local Historical Documents in Shanghai Jiao Tong University

Reading promotion of special collections is a challenging part of library work. The practiceof reading promotion of local historical documents in the collection of Shanghai Jiao Tong Universityshows that the combination of bibliographic interpretation and digitization construction is able to realizethe in-depth excavation of the document content and expand the scope of reading promotion. Chinesetraditional education culture, traditional Chinese medicine culture and red culture are all effectivein reading promotion. The combination of venue exhibitions and cultural activities with the use ofnew media also builds a new path of reading promotion services, opening up a new space for culturaleducation in colleges and universities.
