Shen Xia,Wang Jinling
Libraly Journal. 2017, 36 (8): 28-34.
The paper tries to understand open access status of electronic journals based on group purchasing of six medical journals databases (LWW, BMJ, Thieme, Karger, Informa, JAMA). Through investigating the quantity, utilization, accessibility of open access journals in 2014, the results showed that five databases have open access journals, excluding JAMA, but the ratio of open access articles in total article quantities published is low (1%): 42.8% journals include open access articles, whereas11 of total open access journals are included in SCI. utilization ratios of open access articles are found significantly different in six databases. As for the influence of open access on group purchasing, it is recommended that group purchasing should include open access; that the ratio of open access articles should be considered for price negotiation in renewal attempts; that OA should be taken into account during costs verification.
