A Brief Review on the Research Trend of Library Science in China since 2000
    Fred Y. Ye
    Libraly Journal. 2017, 36 (7): 4-9.
    摘要 ( 5424 )   PDF(CN)(1525KB) ( 66 )

Three research trends of library studies in China since 2000 are introduced here, namely, speculative studies, empirical research and service innovation. Accordingly, three schools are formed that are oriented respectively on science, technologies and human beings, whereas policy research and reading
research are both available. The representative scholars and their works are briefly reviewed as well, which together builds a simple framework for understanding the library science in China since 2000.

A Review on Key Issues of Knowledge Fusion in View of Big Data
    Tang Xiaobo, Zhu Juan
    Libraly Journal. 2017, 36 (7): 10-16.
    摘要 ( 10069 )   PDF(CN)(1563KB) ( 309 )

The paper reviews existing study on knowledge fusion against the backdrop of big data, summarizes research status, and points out future research direction. Through literature analysis, the paper presents the research status, framework, algorithm and application of traditional knowledge fusion,
concluding with new needs of knowledge fusion in the times of big data. The research shows that the framework would emphasize more the knowledge cleaning, presentation and service; in terms of algorithm, the difference between information and knowledge should be considered; as for application, application across fields should be paid attention to.

Influence of the Principle of Least Effort on Chinese Library and Information Science Research
    Qiu Jianxing, Deng Shengli
    Libraly Journal. 2017, 36 (7): 17-24.
    摘要 ( 9507 )   PDF(CN)(1579KB) ( 279 )

This paper aims to explore the influence of “the principle of least effort” by George Kingsely Zipf on the Chinese library and information science. In this paper, we study all the literature in core LIS journals that mentions the principle. The results show that the influence of “the principle of least effort” is increasing at home and that it is mainly used to explain human information behavior.

Compilation, Evaluation and Revision of Information Retrieval Self-efficacy Scale for College Students
Yu Ya’nan, Gu Ping, Huai Pan, He Xuefang
    Libraly Journal. 2017, 36 (7): 44-51.
    摘要 ( 4983 )   PDF(CN)(1689KB) ( 57 )

Objective: To develop information search self-efficacy scale for college students in China by evaluating statistical indexes such as reliability and validity of the preliminary information search self-efficacy scale. Methods: Firstly, we develop preliminary information search self-efficacy scale in accordance with the compile principle. We then assess 142 students against preliminary scale, revise the result, and form a final scale. 294 college students are analyze afterward. Results: The average popular rate of scale items is 0.43, around 0.50, whereas discrimination of each item reaches 0.4 or more. Factor
analysis shows that six factors are consistent with the designed factors of scale. Cronbach’s alpha of scale is 0.819. In addition to the “environment” factor, reliability of each dimension is greater than 0.70.Conclusion: The college students’ information search self-efficacy scale features good reliability and
    validity.

Crowdsourcing Text-building of Picture Resource in Digital Libraries
    Fu Yuean
    Libraly Journal. 2017, 36 (7): 60-65.
    摘要 ( 9869 )   PDF(CN)(1499KB) ( 279 )

With the popularity of digital public libraries comes the important task of text-building of picture resource. This paper studies the issue of incorporating crowdsourcing into text-building. Firstly, professional evaluation should be carried out, and building strategies (e.g., transcription and proofreading)
as well as implementation methods (e.g., text input, CAPTCHA, games) need to be considered. The text contributed by volunteers must be checked. This paper summarizes three ways of checking, namely, human checking, checking based on guessing, and consistency checking. At last, four measures for ensuring textbuilding quality are discussed.
