The Evolvement of Worldwide RDF Vocabularies for Bibliographic Description
Hu Xiaojing
LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 4-11.
As semantic web and linked data became hot topics, new standards in metadata, including bibliographic vocabularies and ontologies, were published in RDF or OWL. IFLA’s ISBD Vocabularies and FRBR Vocabularies, RDA Registry, Europeana Data Model (EMD) Vocabulary, OCLC’s BiblioGraph (bibliographic extension of Schema.org), and Library of Congress’s BIBFRAME are emerging in recent years. There is discrepancy in amount of classes and properties between these RDF vocabularies. The tendency in the making of RDF vocabularies is coordinating among agencies, minimizing number of namespaces, and introducing “event” class into the vocabularies.

Analysis of Applications of Scientometrics Visualization in Domestic non-LIS Community in the Last Decade
Zhang Yinan, Huang Guobin, Wang Yanan, Cheng Huirong
LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 32-40.
The paper studies scientometrics visualization by statistically analyzing 164 papers from the domestic core journals of non-Library-and-Information-Science community in the last decade (2004-2013) from four aspects, namely, data selecting, data processing, data presentation, and writing style. The study points out problems of scientometrics visualization, including redundancy of research, limited diversity of indicators and tools of scientometrics visualization, and a certain gap between non-Library-and-Information- Science community and LIS.

Library Resource Allocation in Discipline Construction
Wang Qingwen, Sun Danxia
LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 66-70.
With a history of over 100 years , Central China Normal University (CCNU) is strong in liberal arts, but a little weak in science, and short of technology and engineering. Keeping the traditional advantage in liberal arts, optimizing existing science subjects, and developing technology and engineering, CCNU plans to build itself into a comprehensive research university featuring education for teachers. The library resource thus won’t be suitable for the future. According to the different characteristics and levels of disciplines, therefore, reallocating library resource will be conducive to discipline development.

The Building of Expert Database based on Linked Data
Zhang Yongjuan, Sun Xiaoli, Guan Xinghua, Sun Jilin, Yu Jianrong, Chen Tao
LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 80-84.
Using experts’ names, professional titles, organizations, published papers, and journals as data sources, which are stored in non-relational databases OpenLinkVirtuoso in RDF format, this research builds an expert database by integrating Pubmed literature data with DOI number. An extensible ontology is constructed on the basis of these open ontology vocabulary (DC, FOAF, BIBO etc.).

Study and Recommendations on the Construction of Makerspaces in Libraries
You Yue, Jia Ping
LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 95-101.
The article introduces the concept and characteristics of the makerspaces, and the significance for the libraries to construct the makerspaces, considering the digital age which the libraries are in, the necessity of transformation and the libraries’ service theory. After reviewing the successful cases of makerspaces in foreign libraries, it summarizes the influential factors, namely, resources and equipments (funds, space, facilities and tools), service team, service design, external environment and cooperation mechanism. Finally, the article proposes specific measures to build makerspace in libraries at home.
