The Evolvement of Worldwide RDF Vocabularies for Bibliographic Description
    Hu Xiaojing
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 4-11.
    摘要 ( 2090 )   PDF(CN)(1821KB) ( 169 )
As semantic web and linked data became hot topics, new standards in metadata, including bibliographic vocabularies and ontologies, were published in RDF or OWL. IFLA’s ISBD Vocabularies and FRBR Vocabularies, RDA Registry, Europeana Data Model (EMD) Vocabulary, OCLC’s BiblioGraph (bibliographic extension of Schema.org), and Library of Congress’s BIBFRAME are emerging in recent years. There is discrepancy in amount of classes and properties between these RDF vocabularies. The tendency in the making of RDF vocabularies is coordinating among agencies, minimizing number of namespaces, and introducing “event” class into the vocabularies.

    Hypertext Structure and Hyper-reading
    Yuan Xilin
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 12-19.
    摘要 ( 2383 )   PDF(CN)(2031KB) ( 93 )
With the development of hypertext and network technology, hyper-reading has exceeded theoretical research and experimental stage, and become the mainstream form of reading at present. Due to the openness of the hypertext works structure, it leads to the diversity of reading, and profoundly affects the ecological environment of publishing and reading. Not only the narrative mode of writing and reading but also publishing and editing forms have changed. Reading revolution is taking place. So the library services will face more difficulties, and need to explore more reading service models and digital hypertext technology.

Analysis of Applications of Scientometrics Visualization in Domestic non-LIS Community in the Last Decade
Zhang Yinan, Huang Guobin, Wang Yanan, Cheng Huirong
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 32-40.
    摘要 ( 3441 )   PDF(CN)(1842KB) ( 128 )
The paper studies scientometrics visualization by statistically analyzing 164 papers from the domestic core journals of non-Library-and-Information-Science community in the last decade (2004-2013) from four aspects, namely, data selecting, data processing, data presentation, and writing style. The study points out problems of scientometrics visualization, including redundancy of research, limited diversity of indicators and tools of scientometrics visualization, and a certain gap between non-Library-and-Information- Science community and LIS.

The Innovative Services in Libraries Based on Users’Digital Ability
Huang Wenbin, Liu Tianyi, Zhang Jiuzhen
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 46-51.
    摘要 ( 3697 )   PDF(CN)(1854KB) ( 90 )
Users in a library can be categorized into three groups, digital pioneers, digital followers and traditional users. We concluded that personalized and innovative services should be provided according to the users’ digital ability. For digital pioneers, we could provide a fashionable space displaying new technologies. For digital followers, we should try improving their user experience and offer more lifeoriented information. For traditional users, inclusive design to reduce their difficulty in using technology use should be considered the focus of efforts. Providing services according to attributes of different reader groups could maximize the equality among people with different technology skills and literary levels to acquire knowledge.

The Research on Obtaining a Large Number of Original Documents through Regional Libraries’ Collaborative Digital Reference Services: A Case Study of the“Joint Online Consultation of Hunan Province”
    Xie Haihua
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 52-58.
    摘要 ( 1458 )   PDF(CN)(1854KB) ( 78 )
In order to study the phenomenon of obtaining a large number of original documents through regional libraries’ collaborative digital reference services, the paper takes the “Joint Online Consultation of Hunan Province” as anexample. It analyzes the possible motives for readers to obtain a large number of original documents in short time through reference service. It points out the fact that it might lead to the infringement of intellectual property rights, if reference librarians unconditionally provide a large amount of literature. It then proposes countermeasures from three aspects. First, we should specify the amount and the scope of “fair use” by adopting quantitative and qualitative methods, while striving for more “library exceptions” in laws. Secondly, we should guide and nurture the readers’ consciousness of copyright protection by means of real-name registration, and copyright statements. Finally, we should utilize technologies to protect copyright.

Exploring New Ideas of Standard Description of Local Literature: Taking Min Capital Literature as an Example
    Zou Juan
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 59-62.
    摘要 ( 2435 )   PDF(CN)(2374KB) ( 82 )
In the information age, optimizing literature content based on users’ needs and processing and developing literature have become the focus of future work in library cataloging, which traditionally only involves the description of external literature features. Local literature, with strong regional and distinct characteristics, should be revealed comprehensively and multi-dimensionally, such as attaching importance to notes, indexing keywords deeply, unifying classification and other basic access points so as to improve the quality of literature cataloging as well as promoting the circulation and utilization of local literature.

    Deng Fuquan
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 63-65.
    摘要 ( 1646 )   PDF(CN)(1580KB) ( 85 )
Title information note is an important indicator to measure the quality of cataloging. To effectively play its role in helping readers identify documents, we should strive to make it accurate (including selection of note contents and fields), carefully-made (readers can see as the standard) and unique (no repeated instructions).

Library Resource Allocation in Discipline Construction
    Wang Qingwen, Sun Danxia
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2015, 34 (5): 66-70.
    摘要 ( 1846 )   PDF(CN)(1952KB) ( 101 )
With a history of over 100 years , Central China Normal University (CCNU) is strong in liberal arts, but a little weak in science, and short of technology and engineering. Keeping the traditional advantage in liberal arts, optimizing existing science subjects, and developing technology and engineering, CCNU plans to build itself into a comprehensive research university featuring education for teachers. The library resource thus won’t be suitable for the future. According to the different characteristics and levels of disciplines, therefore, reallocating library resource will be conducive to discipline development.
