The Care of Books written by John Willis Clark is a classic work in the field of library science.By introducing its content, the author thinks that this book can offer inspirations, help expand the research range, drawattention to the collection and use of ‘marginalized historical materials’ and integrate new
appropriate research methods of other disciplines. The Chinese edition of The Care of Books was published more than 100 years after its original. Lamenting on the lateness as such, the author appeals that we should pay more attention to the translation and the publication of western classical works in the field of library science.

How can professional libraries explore innovative services in their attempts at transformation?National Science Library of Chinese Academy of Sciences (NSLC) provides a possible answer with an open information service platform for science and technology innovation and entrepreneurship. It develops
five types of activities within 2 years and offers knowledge services such as data analysis and technical trend analysis. It attracts a large number of entrepreneurial projects, investors, researchers and the media,and succeeds in building a knowledge service model that adds to library’s value. Limited by the service mechanism and team, however, practices are still on the initial stage, with services to be expanded.

Using information and network technologies to construct freshmen information literacy platform has become the mainstream channel and important method for university libraries to conduct their freshmen’s information literacy education. To better accommodate the needs of the era of network, and influenced by the changings reading habits and behaviors, the construction of freshmen information literacy has gone through a lot of changes as well. Based on the practices of the “2016 freshmen column platform”launched by Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and adopting HTML5 and CSS3, this thesis puts forward some
new thoughts on constructing university library’s freshmen information literacy platform.

Russian emigrants’ literature in China is the publication by the Russian Emigrants residing in China from the second half of the 19th century to the beginning of the 1950s. These literatures are cultural products of special historical period, with very high historical value, artistic value and scientific value. This paper introduces the general situation of Russian emigrants’ literature in China collected by the National Library of China, analyzes their characteristics and lists characteristic literature. In order to provide better protection to this precious literature, we should carry out a comprehensive literature survey,
establish special collections “Russian Emigrants Literature”, compile General Bibliography of Russian Emigrants Literature in China, complement the missing literature, build a full text database and strengthen literature arrangement and research.

The paper introduces and compares the two main book citation index databases BkCI & CBkCI, their significance and existing problems. It reveals similarities in the agencies who build them,resources inclusion criteria and the services provided, as well as some differences in the fields of resources,
languages, and the start year of inclusion. Book citation index is of great value for information retrieval and citation analysis, but problems exist such as data inconsistency, and the complex connotation of book citation. At last, the paper provides some improvement suggestions for those who have built or will build
book citation index databases.

Robot technology is increasingly researched and adopted by smart libraries. Robot technology can effectively solve some problems in library management and service, and improve user satisfaction to a certain extent. Based on extensive research literature and best practices of library robots, this paper analyzes
the situation of researches and practices of library robots at home and abroad in depths, and proposes that libraries, relevant research institutions and researchers should introduce library robots rationally, attach importance to corpus construction so as to make the robot more like a librarian, focus on key technologies to take the robot into real library environment, and cultivate relevant technical talents.

In view of the lack of research on digital culture at home, the paper studies the latest thinkings and practices of international libraries in recent years based on the papers published in the field of library and information science since 2000. It noticed a great amount of discussions on culture heritage protection,
children & digital culture, user service for digital resource, and long-term preservation of digital culture. It hopes to introduce these discussions to the domestic library circle so as to inspire the latter to participate actively in the development of digital culture.

The two manuscripts belonging to Yongle Dadian which latest found in Los Angeles Huntington Library in 2014 was the sole one which appeared on the 419 volume of Yongle Dadian in the world. The manuscripts made a copy of Wenwang Shizi and cited the notes and commentaries from Liji together with
other 13 kinds of relative writings, Among the 13 writings, there were four of them have disappeared and the other nine was survived and both of them played an important value for the document emendate. The manuscripts were contributed to sorting out the writings of Liji and the research of Liji, also made an
individual value of researching the scribal style of Yongle Dadian.

The Wen Xuan, Collected in Santiao Home in Japan, was listed as Important Cultural Property.However its nature and characteristics still not well reveal. It could generally infer that this write roll may came from the Tang Dynasty from the judgment of taboo and body vulgar words. Although this write roll
have some errors of drain and write which direct impact the value, it has particular value. It can be used to prove the two important questions. First, it can be seen the original if compare with the version which was carved the thirty-first Shaoxing in the Song Dynasty. Second, it can be proved the Li Jiweng’s mistake
which was put forward in the Zi Xialu. He believed the five Ministers Comment for Wen Xuan all originated from the Lishan Comment. Hence, we can fairly evaluate its importance.

Nobusama Inoue was a famous China hand in Meiji period, played a central role between China and Japan. However, his activities in China haven’t been recognized enough in Chinese academic world. The Yuyu Youji collected by the National diet library of Japan is the script of travel notes in China
written by Nobusama Inoue, which is one of the most important travel notes written in Chinese by Japanese in the late Qing Dynasty. According to Yuyu Youji the travel experiences in China of Nobusama Inoue could be cognize deeply, also his outlook on China might be assessed at a glance. More importantly, Yuyu Youji recorded geography, landscape, traditional customs economy, products and cultural relics where Nobusama Inoue passed through, All of these above reflect essential research value.
