    Wang Ying, Wu Gang
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2016, 35 (3): 21-25.
    摘要 ( 3490 )   PDF(CN)(1746KB) ( 999 )

When libraries provide service for users, but involve copyrights, they should shoulder responsibilities of protecting copyright holders’ interests as well, despite their legitimate right of using the literature in the meantime. Furthermore, whether libraries have assumed some obligations has become an important criterion of determining whether they infringe the copyrights or not. The paper analyzes several cases and clarifies the responsibilities and obligations of libraries, such as deleting links of infringement, putting up warnings of copyright infringement, obligations when signing contracts, fair use and statutory license.

Indexing is an efficient way to improve the database retrieval. By using bibliometrics and content analysis method and combined with correlational research, this paper divided the development of database index into four stages. It analyses the background and lists the representative viewpoints in terms of theory and technology in each stage. It then summarizes the trend of the research of database index compilation, and points the features, namely, diversity, in-depth, intelligent and visualization.

A Development Research of Book Index in the Age of Digital Publishing
Qiu Junpin, Ma Li, Yang Qiang
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2016, 35 (3): 68-73.
    摘要 ( 1573 )   PDF(CN)(1924KB) ( 666 )

In the age of digital publishing, the digital index is the trend of back-of-the-book index. The proportion of digital index of back-of-the-book will be more than that of the paper index, but the paper index will remain to be the basic work for a period of time. This study argues that we need promote the index digital hierarchically, and also puts forward three ways to develop it, namely, to determine the priority type for index compilation, to develop the industrial chain of back-of-the-book indexing and to attach importance to the index research and practices of international communication.

Zhang Jie, Peng Jia, Zheng Qiaoying
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2016, 35 (3): 74-79.
    摘要 ( 1737 )   PDF(CN)(1812KB) ( 764 )

As scientific manuscripts have characteristics of both literature and archives, their organization could be conducted with organization principles of both library and archives. Therefore, a scientific manuscripts organizing method is designed, which contains six steps from selecting the level of arrangement, assigning unique ID, and classifying category to designing metadata model, determining access points, and cataloging. The whole process makes scientific manuscripts searchable and usable online. At last, the practices of T. D. Lee Archives Online are given as an example to illustrate the organizing approach of scientific manuscripts.

Study on Integration and Organization of Information Resources Based on Information Resources Discovery Systems
    Peng Jia, Zheng Qiaoying
    LIBRARY JOURNAL. 2016, 35 (3): 80-85.
    摘要 ( 2979 )   PDF(CN)(1753KB) ( 843 )

By discussing the study of the main information discovery systems in China, this paper analyses the methods of integration and organization of information resources. Based on metadata pre-index and metadata repository, information discovery systems realize the integration and organization of information
resources by harvesting and transforming metadata records from various resources. The real information resources “discovery” is to realize the data relationship based on knowledge and through mining the internal relationship between information resources. Therefore, it needs to build up a framework of information
resource organization and deep aggregation based on metadata repository, and realize the organization and aggregation of information resources from the semantic level.
