Abstract:

Liang Qichao's philology system is comprehensive and systematical. The idea on philology divided into traditional and modern ones had a profound influence on today. Liang Qichao thought that the concept of traditional philology could be defined in a broad way and a narrow way. The ancient Chinese literature is a fusion of “The Literature of Knowledge” and “Virtue on Knowledge”. Modern philology is a product mixing Chinese traditional academic and western scientific methods. But his idea that there is no “learning” concept in Chinese traditional academics needs further discussion.
