Abstract: By integrating the theory of general education, this paper makes a comparative study of the Civilized Campus: Campus Reading Promotion and the Branch Reading: Reading Promote Talent and introduces the theoretical and practical value of these two books in terms of reading promotion on campus. On this basis, four feasible paths for college libraries to improve general education are putting forward: compiling campus-wide classics reading bibliographies and scientifically allocating the proportions of humanities, social sciences and science and technology bibliographies; creating regionally-featured reading promotion activities and focusing on the promotion of humanities and other digital reading resources; using library reading promotion platforms or applications to stimulate college students’ enthusiasm for reading; re-designing the library space that should be conducive to the development of reading promotion.
