Cross-border and Fusion: The Practical Application of POD
Innovative Service in Shanghai Library
Han Chunlei, Xu Shu, Mei Hao (Shanghai Library)
Libraly Journal. 2022, 41 (7): 25-30.
Shanghai Library East was constructed with the philosophy of “intelligence,
interconnectivity, and inclusiveness” in mind. Shanghai Library promotes the “people-centered”
transformation of public libraries and innovates document service models in the process of establishing a
public cultural service system during the 14th Five-Year Plan period. The POD (Print on-demand) service
was launched as part of this overall strategy. Starting from the introduction of the POD application areas,
this paper describes how the POD service is offered at Shanghai Library East, and analyzes its role in the
library. The authors believe that POD service plays a part in four aspects: (1) as an important component
of the smart library, (2) help to supplement the library collection, (3) assist in expanding and extending the
traditional literature service, and (4) as a new form of the library’s cross-border application of innovative
services. Inspired by POD service and for the overall optimization of service efficiency, it is necessary to
comprehensively coordinate the revolutionary remodeling of reader services throughout the whole cycle
and all stages of process and system renovation, with the vision of a future-oriented smart library

Mechanism for Children’s Librarians under the Vision 2035
Xu Jianhua, Lu Jinyi, Zhang Yunong (Department of Information Resource Management, Nankai University)
Libraly Journal. 2022, 41 (7): 36-46.
Children are the future of the country and the hope of the nation. Children’s librarians will
play a great role in the realization of the vision 2035, because they provide library services for children
and safeguard children’s cultural rights. On the basis of summarizing the current research and practice on
the training of children’s librarians, this paper puts forward a preliminary framework for establishing the
training mechanism of children’s librarians. In order to establish the training mechanism of children’s
librarians for 2035, we need to innovate perspectives. For example, we can explore the establishment of
the training mechanism of children’s librarians from the perspective of theory, children’s perspective,
recruitment perspective and absorbing the experience of other fields. On the other hand, we should
establish a multi-directional guarantee for the training of children’s librarians, including gradually
developing professional education and training students’ professional ability, actively standardizing job
recruitment and continuously promoting continuing education. At the same time, we should promote the
establishment of professional organizations and cooperate with other institutions to formulate standardized
documents, so as to effectively train children’s librarians to meet the needs of the new era.

Libraly Journal. 2022, 41 (7): 47-57.
We study the users’ continuance intention for provincial public cultural cloud WeChat, and
explore the main factors that affect users’ continuance intention. We take S-O-R theory as the logical
framework, integrate ECM-ISC and D&M theoretical models, and introduce “Flow Experience” to establish
research models. A questionnaire is used to conduct a survey about the continuance intention of “Jiangsu
Public Culture Cloud” WeChat users, and then SPSS 26.0 and AMOS 26.0 are used to verify the variables
and assumptions contained in the model. “User Satisfaction” and “Perceived Usefulness” are the main
factors that affect the users’ continuance intention to provincial public cultural cloud WeChat; “Expected
Confirmation” significantly affects “Perceived Usefulness” and “Flow Experience”, and indirectly affects
“User Satisfaction”; “Service Quality” significantly affects “Expected Confirmation”, and indirectly affects
“Perceived Usefulness” and “Flow Experience”; and the impact of “Information Quality” on “Perceived
Usefulness”, “Expected Confirmation”, and “Flow Experience” fails to be validated.

The Buddha’s Sutra on Hemorrhoids and the Cultural
Exchange between India and China
Zhao Yachen, Wang Xingyi (Institute of Chinese Medicine Science and Humanities, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine)
Libraly Journal. 2022, 41 (7): 139-147.
The Buddha’s Sutra on Hemorrhoids is a Tantric text translated by Yi Jing from India,
with a distinctive description of hemorrhoids. The text is found in Dunhuang manuscripts S.5379, the
Dazhengzang, the Medical Heart Formula, and the Xixia Scroll IHB. NO.807. According to research
findings, S.5379 is the earliest manuscript and differs from the latter three. Each of them must have
been copied from a different source. Its contents reflect the understanding that haemorrhoids are greatly
influenced by Indian Ayurvedic medicine, which believes that the haemorrhoids can be found on all
parts of the body and gradually shrink, describing only perianal diseases, from a broad to a narrow sense.
However, the sutra was first spread in the Middle Kingdom of China, then back to Dunhuang, Heishui
City and later to Japan. It also influenced the understanding of haemorrhoids in Chinese medicine,
expanding from a perianal disease to other parts of the body, such as nasal and ear haemorrhoids. The
meaning of the word ‘haemorrhoid’ was further expanded from a narrow to a broad sense. The sutra thus
preserves the traces of cultural exchange between India and China, leaving a valuable historical legacy in
the rich history of cultural exchange between India and China.
