Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China 70 years ago, the libraries, such as
National Library of China, Shanghai Library and Peking University Library have been working on rubbing
cataloging and research. Through cataloging and database development, library has basically realized
searching and reading of stored rubbing resources. Meanwhile, by summarizing the experience of rubbing
cataloging, retrieval, collection and repairing, and presenting them to the industry in the form of books,
libraries of grass root level are encouraged to carry out rubbing arrangement work as well.

This study applies Chatman’s “small worlds” method to research the Dulong and Nu ethnic
groups located in Gong Shan County, Yunnan province. 72 ethnic groups with small populations were
selected from 5 villages as interviewees for in-depth interviews. In addition, data analysis is carried out
through three levels of qualitative data encoding to investigate the information seeking of EMSP in the
context of small worlds. As a result, this study finds that EMSP’s information seeking is deeply rooted in
its small-world situation. Under the influence of traditional customs, lifestyles and ethnic identity, although
they occasionally seek information out of the ethnic group, most of them still choose to look for information
within ethnic groups, which may have a negative impact on their information search.

Chen Song is one of the few female librarians in the republican era of China,,who had worked
in several libraries and had been engaged in professional education and research of library science in
universities. The article introduces Chen Song’s thoughts on library science from the perspectives of
values of library, education, publicity, statistics, book selection, staffing and personnel quality, and reader
service, in the hope of enriching the research on the history of Chinese library science, and encouraging
the latecomers to chase after the predecessors. 

Wang Bainian was a famous children’s librarian in the Republic of China period. During
his tenure as director of the Children’s Library of the First Primary School Affiliated to Peking Normal
University, he followed the principle of children oriented librarianship, and made a thorough study of
service targeted at children from the aspects of library layout, collection selection, reading guidance and
librarian training. He then put his ideas into practice. By exploring Wang Bainian’s service thoughts and
practices, this paper reveals his contribution to the development of children’s library in China.

Mo Boji is a well-known book collector in modern China. He has made remarkable
achievements in terms of book collection thoughts, practice and related philology. Book collection is not
only a hobby, but also a cause that was conducted throughout his life. With profound knowledge and
persistency, he fulfilled the mission of collecting books and protecting culture. Today, the owner of the
“500 000-volume library” is still praised for his excellent collection of books, brilliant ideas and historical
deeds. This paper explores Mo Boji’s thoughts and practices of book collection. In order to further perfect
the related research and to reveal Mo’s important contribution to the cause of book collection and document
protection in China, this paper makes an in-depth analysis of his outstanding ideas, character, cultural
contributions and representative academic works

Taking the development and operation of the sports Special library as an example, the article
introduces the “four-in-one” mode of Hangzhou Special library: namely, it focuses on readers’ needs while
featuring characteristic resources, space design, social cooperation and thematic service. The paper then
expounds the contents of the important system guarantee mechanism design, such as activity propaganda,
work standardization, and cooperation between library, companies, and volunteers in the operation of
thematic library.

Combining mobile AR with agent-based context-aware technology is a new attempt for library
management to provide solutions for context-sensitive book management. This paper combines mobile AR
and proxy technology, proposes its application architecture in the library field, and uses Android, Vuforia
SDK, JADE and other tools to study the specific implementation of the architecture, and analyzes the main
agents and main algorithms. Compared with the current book management system, this system makes
service and management more general, easier, and more intelligent. With further modifications, this system
can effectively perform the heavy library management tasks in the current real world.

In order to improve the ability of resource integration and image analysis in digital libraries,
this paper proposes a content-based image retrieval method, which extracts SURF features of images as
visual words based on bag of features method and uses K-means method to build a visual dictionary. It
then obtains histogram features of images according to the mapping relationships between visual words
and visual dictionary. At last, the similarity between histograms is used for image retrieval. Practice shows
that the system has good operational efficiency and retrieval accuracy, and fully considers the illumination,
perspective, image size and other factors. It can not only promote and improve the working process in
library but also make corresponding technical improvement according to specific needs, which is suitable
for further promotion in digital libraries.

In order to adapt to the management of multiple types of resources and the interconnections
between multiple systems, it is urgent for libraries to have a new generation library service platform which
is open and easy to expand. The research status of library service platforms at home and abroad is reviewed.
The case study of Shenzhen University Library is used to analyze its needs and the system architecture in
developing the new generation library service platform based on microservices. The functions, features
and implementation effects of the new generation library service platform are also introduced. The new
generation library service platform based on micro-service architecture is flexible, open and easy to expand.
The library can gradually migrate internal applications to the micro-service architecture. 

In view of the problems existing in the information retrieval of the Republic of China period, this
paper took the Anti-Japanese War history as an example and proposed a scheme for automatic construction
of thesaurus that can improve information searching efficiency. With Shenbao as the main corpus, this
paper provided the key technical solutions to the generation of thesaurus and showed examples, including
collecting vocabulary through various ways, assisting experts in determining the candidate terms included
in the thesaurus, and identifying the hyponym and hypernym relationship, synonymous relationship, and
associative relationship between terms using natural language processing techniques such as frequency
statistics and co-occurrence analysis. Finally, the macro-structure, the scope and methods of collecting
words, storage and publication of the thesaurus were discussed. Automating the process of thesaurus
construction assisted by manual judgement can save time, efforts and costs in addition to allowing easy
maintenance and expansion of the constructed thesaurus and promoting the application of thesaurus.

The ultimate goal of library reading promotion research is to guide library practice. The
establishment of reading promotion standards is a concrete transformation of theoretical research results.
This paper analyses the importance of establishing specific standards for reading promotion, and sorts out
how the current library laws and documents define and standardize library reading promotion. Drawing
upon the formulation principles of ISO standard framework and IFLA guidelines, it discusses the stylistic
rules, content elements and frameworks of the integrated library reading promotion standards in China.

This article studied the first circulation pattern of monographs from the aspects of overalls, broad subject categories, languages and secondary subject categories taking the example of the circulation statistics from 2013 through 2018 at Shanghai University of Finance and Economics Library. It proposed some comprehensive suggestions from the viewpoints of subject service for improving the utilization rate of collection and optimizing the quality of the collection.

Humanities research in open and interconnected environment is in an urgent need of massive data resources and new approaches. This study constructs a historical social network based on a large number of data collected from the CBDB knowledge base and ancient literature, and transforms historical figures into low real-value vectors by network representation learning algorithm, which has been specifically improved for historical network by incorporating the nodes influence. Based on the concept of digital humanities, this paper carries out an empirical study on humanities computing tasks, such as person relatedness calculation and relationship mining. This work is the first attempt to introduce the network representation learning technique into the historical social network analysis, which will help researchers to mine knowledge or find clues from massive humanistic data. It will have a positive influence on the expansion of the paradigm and methodology of humanistic research.

In academic research, it is important to improve the efficiency and accuracy of the author’s citation of academic literature. Based on the construction of the heterogeneous knowledge network model, the paper constructs the author-document correlation matrix by means of the meta-path theory and the DPRel correlation metric algorithm, and then realizes the academic literature recommendation based on the relevance ranking. Finally, the effectiveness of the method is proved by empirical research.

The current study on the edition of Shi Tong includes the catalogues of Shanghai Library and other libraries, book-type catalogues such as Catalogue of Chinese Ancient Rare Books, Illustrated Catalogue on Engraving of the Ming Dynasty, and the postscript notes written by Huang Pilie and Gu Qianli and other related research works. This paper has sorted the storage and affiliation of various editions of these books. There are still many problems to be studied, such as the loss and mistakes existed on the description and identification of editions and the relationship between various editions.

Dizigui (rules for students) is a great illuminative book revised by Jia Cunren according to Xunmengwen (teaching and enlightening), which was written by Li Yuxiu during the reign of Qianlong, Qing Dynasty. It’s very clear that from its preface and postscript we’ve found today, this book was mostly used for both private and public schools. This book became very popular gradually from the middle and later Qing Dynasty. It began to spread in the reign of Daoguang. In the Republic of China, it was prevalent almost all over China. The collection for series was the most primary way for its circulation. Dizigui revised by Jia had three different editions, which are not found today. Among these three editions, the one recollected in Xijingqinglu is the closest to Xunmengwen, written by Li Yuxiu. Another one recollected in Fuxingzhai is the closest to the edition revised by Jia Cunren. And this edition also has become the most popular one for us.

Collection of Yu’an was written by Li Ting, a famous poet at the end of the Jin Dynasty and the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty. The only block-printed edition of the book was published by Miu Quansun in Collection of Fragrant Lotus (Ou Xiang Ling Shi) at the end of the Qing Dynasty. This edition was based on the transcript of Collection of Yu’an made by Kong Jihan, where Miu Quansun identified lots of poems written at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. There was another transcript of the Qing Dynasty stored in the National library, but it also mixed with someone’ collection of poems at the end of the Yuan Dynasty. The writer found these poems were from Collection of Yu’an at the end of the Yuan Dynasty, written by Sheng Jingnian. In the history, the collection of poems of Sheng Jingnian was regarded as missing. Now, in this transcript, we can recover his poems. The transcript collected in the National Library contains at least 70 poems of Li Ting, absent in the edition of Miu Quansun. Besides, the writer distinguished 29 poems of Sheng Jingnian from the edition of Miu Quansun. This paper has identified the authors of the poems in the transcript of Collection of Yu’an in the Qing Dynasty. It is a complementary to Poems of the Yuan Dynasty, also significant to the investigation of poems of the Yuan Dynasty.
