A Study on Mo Boji’s Book Collection Thoughts and Practices

Abstract: Mo Boji is a well-known book collector in modern China. He has made remarkable
achievements in terms of book collection thoughts, practice and related philology. Book collection is not
only a hobby, but also a cause that was conducted throughout his life. With profound knowledge and
persistency, he fulfilled the mission of collecting books and protecting culture. Today, the owner of the
“500 000-volume library” is still praised for his excellent collection of books, brilliant ideas and historical
deeds. This paper explores Mo Boji’s thoughts and practices of book collection. In order to further perfect
the related research and to reveal Mo’s important contribution to the cause of book collection and document
protection in China, this paper makes an in-depth analysis of his outstanding ideas, character, cultural
contributions and representative academic works
