Evaluation of Library Websites under the Analytical Framework of “Full Evaluation”

Abstract: t In order to explore the domestic and foreign research progress about the library website evaluation, problems and countermeasures, this paper employed the analytical framework of “full evaluation” and studied the six essential factors for evaluation (subject, object, purpose, method, criteria and indicator, and mechanism) from three perspectives (form, content and the effectiveness) regarding evaluation research literatures of library website at home and abroad published since the 21st century. The study identified a few problems in library evaluation, and put forward countermeasures in six aspects: 1) promoting the diversification and specialization of the evaluation subjects; 2) promoting the diversification and comprehensiveness of the evaluation objects; 3) ensuring that the objective of the evaluation is specific and clarified; 4) promoting the professionalization and synthesis of the evaluation methods; 5) promoting the standardization and objectification of the evaluation standards and indicators; 6) paying attention to the construction of evaluation rules and nurturing the sense of such standards.
