Building a Child-Friendly Reading Ecosystem with Public Libraries as the Hub Review of Child-Friendly and Reading Ecosystem: 2024 Shanghai Children's Reading and Service Innovation Symposium

Abstract: Developing a child-friendly reading ecosystem is a central focus in the construction of a childfriendlylibrary. The participating experts at the symposium discussed various aspects of the child-friendlyreading ecosystem. First establishing a child-friendly service philosophy is essential children as thebeneficiaries of the reading ecosystem should have priority access to reading resources and enjoy readingservices. Second reshaping the service system and establishing the implementation mechanism of thechild-friendly reading ecosystem require building a close and efficient cooperation network among variousproviders. Third innovative service and activity design is needed to achieve the operational goals of thechild-friendly reading ecosystem. Fourth strengthening key supporting elements such as library spacecollection resources and librarian teams help reinforce the infrastructure of the child-friendly readingecosystem. The research concludes that the child-friendly reading ecosystem with the public library as thehub should adhere to a children-first principle improve the mechanism for social forces to participate inchildren's services in public libraries explore diverse cooperation models and enhance services activitiesresources space and personnel. These efforts will help achieve the goal of diversified supply of children sreading services foster an integrated coordinated and open library service organism and promote the all round development of children. In the future the construction of the children's reading service ecosystemcan advance by seizing innovation opportunities strengthening the children-first mindset focusing on theextensibility of the reading ecosystem and attaching importance to specialization and standardization
