A Study of “Reading Well Books on Prescription” in the UK Public Libraries

Abstract: This article introduces the “Reading Well Books on Prescription”, which represents a typical case
of inter-departmental cooperation in the UK public libraries. The subjects, the process and the influencing
factors in cooperation are analyzed. It is summarized the successful factors of UK public libraries that
take challenges in response to the national transforming strategy, research and promote bibliotherapy,
initiate cooperation among library organizations, and make the cooperation standardized and transparent.
These successful factors provide reference for China’s public libraries’ inter-departmental cooperation and
innovative services.
