Poetry Chanting and Reading Promotion: A Case Study of Poetry Chanting and Performance in Shanghai University Library

Abstract: In view of “Strategy of Powerful Country Construction via Culture” and in the context of“national reading”, it is a challenge for university libraries to make reading promotion activities better serve the purpose of inheriting and developing traditional culture. This paper introduces the successful
case of Shanghai University Library’s reading promotion —“Ancient Rhyme and New Sound”, Shanghai University’s first classical poetry chanting conference, expounds the purpose, objectives, activities planning and implementation methods, and summarizes the performance and lessons of reading promotion activities of poetry chanting.
