Abstract: To uncover and disseminate the cultural connotation of industrial heritage is a mission of organizations represented by public cultural and educational institutions. The cause of using information visualization methods to tap industrial heritage is worthy of our efforts. Based on the relevant theoretical literature and practical case studies, this article mainly combs through the planning, design and construction process of a thematic electronic map of “Modern Shanghai Industrial Context”. It is created by map API and designed to integrate library literature, online media and user-generated information resources to disseminate the industrial social culture and urban life memory. As a knowledge service-oriented application, it is inherently open and interactive.
