A Preferences Analysis of Digital Academic Tools: Multidimensional Differences and Associated Factors

Abstract: In this paper, exploratory analysis was conducted on the user behavior of digital academic
tools, in order to identify users’ preferences. A few suggestions were put forward for digital academic
services. Based on 16652 records, it adopted the data science analysis paradigm to give the overall view of
the data sets. The correlations among dimensions of data were explored, and data values were discovered
through analysis. Selection frequency is an important indicator of users’ preferences. There are correlations
between users’ choices and tools’ categories, functions and service time. Open access and social academic
tools have gradually gained attention of users.
