Abstract: The smart library represented by RFID is integrated into the library system, which challenges
the original open-shelf stacks arrangement with the technological upgrade. Based on data obtained from
behavioral experiment and questionnaires to determine the parameters in the model, the paper established
a mathematical model through behavioral analysis to explore readers’ retrieval behavior patterns beneath
current shelving mode and analyze searching earnings threshold. Through the calculation of mathematical
model, we can theoretically prove that the book identifier is of great significance for searching, becomes
meaningless when the number of books reaches a certain threshold range. However, this value can be used
as the range of positioning units encoded in wisdom library system, and thus figure out an optimization
of open stacks, so as to provide practical guidance to the way of arrangement in open-shelf stacks facing
technological promotion.
