Practical Exploration of Reading Promotion in University Library from the Perspective of School-Based Culture:Taking the Library of University of Science and Technology of China as an Example

Abstract:

University-based culture represents a unique spiritual heritage and institutional identity markerfor universities. Integration of this culture into reading promotion services helps to alleviate thehomogenization of reading promotion practices in both form and content, while also driving thedevelopment of such initiatives in university libraries and fostering the innovative evolution of smartlibraries. Through literature reviews and case studies, this article analyses the value and significance ofintegrating university‘s unique culture into library reading promotion services, discusses the constructionof reading promotion service system grounded in school-based culture, and puts forward suggestions forthe integrated development of cultural identity and reading services. The study points out that universitylibraries should align with their institution’s development context to establish reading promotion servicesystems within the school-based culture, actively establish institutional guarantee mechanisms, innovateintegration methods, and introduce new productivity elements to drive this integrated development.
