Research on the Development of Minority Foreign Language Resources and Related Service in Public Libraries: A Case Study of Shanghai Library

Abstract:

Globalization creates an opportunity for libraries to develop minority foreign language resources and services. The article introduces the development of minority foreign language resources in public libraries and the related service both domestically and internationally by taking Russian, Japanese, German resources in Shanghai Library as an example. By analyzing the problems of resource shortage and lack of document revelation in frontline services of libraries, the author conducts an intensive research and explores a practical path through carrying out diversified cooperation, establishing librarian workstations in the field, and building library virtual communities in order to promote the development of minority foreign language collections and enhance the corresponding service capabilities. This study has
