Interpretation of the Letter from Zhao Zunyue to Xu Naichang

Abstract:

Zhao Zunyue is a famous lyricist in modern times and has made outstanding contributionsto collating Ming dynasty dictionaries. Xu Naichang is a famous bibliophile in modern times who hasworked diligently in the collection and collation of women’s dictionaries. There are 24 books written byZhao Zunyue included in Xu Naichang Letter which be collected in the Shanghai Library, combined withhistorical materials such as Xu Naichang’s Diary and Zhao Fengchang’s Letter, this research interprets 24letters successively according to the historical facts and the contact between Zhao and Xu, so as to showthe details of the compilation and publication history of modern dictionaries.
