Abstract: This study conducts a comparative analysis focusing on six selected research data management plan( DMP) tools, chosen based on specific criteria and especially by selecting mainstream and widely used DMP tools as representatives. By integrating practical trials, prior research, and expert interviews, this research takes a comprehensive approach from the perspective of researchers’ usage and experiences. Core elements for assessing and comparing these tools have been elucidated, and a three-tier system for evaluation has been established. The comparative analysis encompasses an examination of fundamental features, DMP templates and an evaluation of user experiences. The study findings delineate typical characteristics and future developmental trends of universally applicable DMP tools, thereby offering insights for the formulation of pertinent policies and the development of tools in China.
