Abstract: In the era of data intelligence empowerment, how can database construction be integrated into the new environment to meet the needs of new research? How to optimize traditional databases to enhance competitiveness and add value? From the perspective of digital humanities, this article takes the database of “Chinese Periodicals of Modern China - Revolution Collection (OCR)” as an example, and focuses on the two core issues, namely, what kind of service to provide and how to provide the services that users need. It discusses the effective strategies of realizing value-added services from the four levels of resource empowerment, knowledge empowerment, data empowerment and tool empowerment. These explorations can provide users with more complete historical data support and better platform experience, further enhance the core competitiveness of the database, and provide reference for the transformation of traditional databases in digital humanities.
