Abstract:

In February 2022, ISBD (International Standard Bibliographic Description) 2021 Updateto the 2011 Consolidated Edition was officially released. This study compares as well as summarizingthe similarities and differences of the latest edition and the previous one. The 2021 Update revealscharacteristics such as the expansion of the range of resource types and objects described together withthe extension of the glossary. In the mean time, it maintains the original structure of ISBD and takesuser habits into consideration. The purpose of this study is to learn the roadmap for the development ofinternational cataloguing standards. It also serves the purpose of providing reference for the bibliographicwork in China and the revision of national standards.
