Metaverse: Making Libraries More Intelligent

Abstract: In the past two years, there has been an upsurge in the research and application of themetaverse in libraries. The reason why libraries embrace the metaverse is not only related to theunique information and data management skills of this profession, but also to the core value of placingcommunication in an important position. Nowadays, many libraries and relevant R&D institutions haveactively worked in the application field of the library’s metaverse and are looking forward to opening anew world for the innovation-driven and transformation development of libraries. From the perspectiveof the front-line librarians, the author explores the relationship between the metaverse and libraries,and its impact on the development of libraries. The author addresses three issues: Why do we need themetaverse? What benefits will the metaverse technology bring to libraries? And what new topics are wefacing? The author points out that, in the new round of development, efforts should be made in three aspects. Firstly, we should focus on promoting the Service remodeling, and striving to form the basicstructure of the new business model of knowledge service that integrates online and offline, online andon-site. Secondly, we should give full play to our professional advantages, apply the library’s uniquerelated technologies to the interaction between data and data, people and people, data and people, andpromote their added value. Thirdly, we should focus on library development and transformation, takethe Metaverse technology as a breakthrough, accelerate the cultivation and innovation of managementsystems and service methods that adapt to the new technological environment, and vigorously promotethe construct
