Abstract: Based on the microblog data from 22 provincial public libraries, this paper divides these microblogs into three categories: information provision, relationship building and behavior guidance. Combining qualitative and quantitative methods, the authors study the interactive effect, topic, frequency and user composition of different types of microblogs. The results show that 1) the microblogs on lucky draw activity, life & entertainment, questions & answers have good interaction effect; 2) the focus of user interaction is highly related to the content of library microblogs which involves a wide range of topics; 3) about 10% of users contribute about half of the interactive activities for the public library microblog community, and 4) non-authenticated users are the main population of interaction. The paper aims to analyze the interactive characteristics of microblog users of public libraries, and provides theoretical reference and operation suggestions for practitioners and researchers in this area.
