Abstract: Through literature retrieval and content analysis, this paper summarizes the research results of demand-driven acquisition (DDA) in American university libraries from the aspects of DDA models, effects and problems, mechanisms, processes, alliance and practices, so as to provide reference for Chinese university libraries to carry out DDA research and practice. DDA is a subversive traditional collection construction technology and has become the standard method of collection development in American university libraries. Although DDA cannot completely replace the existing collection development methods, it is indeed a beneficial supplement to the traditional collection development methods.
