Abstract: In view of the current lack of innovation awareness among college students in China and the low cost and convenience of popular science book reading, this paper proposes a framework for popular science book reading class to improve the utilization rate of popular science books and to enhance innovation awareness of college students. About one-third of the students participating in the experiment had an overall improvement in the level of innovation awareness. Scale-based assessment standards and high-level sample rates have also been improved. The number of college students who have made more progress are indicators related to the use of subject knowledge or focus on interesting things, but the rates of samples related to personality indicators almost went unchanged. Studies have shown that some college students are eager to enhance their innovation awareness, and acknowledge the role of popular science book reading in this regard. It’s thus proved practical to enhance the innovation awareness of college students in China by conducting popular science book reading class.
