Subject Librarian Service Practice of University Library Based on Micromedia

Abstract: The popularity of micromedia among university users has brought new opportunities for the development of subject librarian service. A survey on the current situation and habits of micromedia users was carried out by chemistry subject librarians in Beijing Normal University Library. Based on the results of survey, Weibo,WeChat, QQ, micro-video and other micromedia are used as the channels to discover users’ need and to carry out subject service. It also relies on users’ deep participation to generate subject service content. Then the micromedia service system of chemistry subject based on user time and user identity is constructed. The survey results and service system can provide reference for the practice of subject librarian service in university libraries.
