Analysis on Publication and Collection of the Works of Mao Zedong in the New Democratic Revolution Period Based on the “Union Catalogue of Documents in the Republic of China Period”

Abstract: The research of the editions of Mao Zedong’s works published in the New Democratic Revolution Period (1919-1949) will contribute to promoting and deepening the research on “Mao Zedong Thoughts”, and the understanding of the intrinsic connection and deep root of “Xi Jinping’s Socialism with Chinese Characteristics” in the new era and “Mao Zedong Thoughts”. This paper takes statistical samples of bibliographic data from the “Union Catalogue of Documents in the Republic of China Period” of National Library of China based on bibliographic authority control, and retrieves 203 titles in 1128 editions altogether. It further analyzes the literature editions, publication years, distribution pattern of publishers of Mao Zedong’s works during New Democratic Revolution Period, and the collecting situation of abovementioned editions. It then compares the result with other research findings, like The Chronicle of the Editions on Words of Mao Zedong. Hopefully this research will contribute more to inheriting revolutionary culture and strengthening our confidence in the socialist path, theories, system and culture with Chinese characteristics.
