Abstract: With the deepening of reading promotion activities, the adolescents’ and children’s
recommended bibliography research has been high on the agenda gradually in recent years. In order to
prepare and make good use of the recommended bibliography to promote the healthy development of
students’ reading activities, this research makes detailed investigation, analysis and discussion of the
extracurricular reading recommended bibliographies based on the Chinese curriculum standards for
primary and secondary school in China over the past 100 years. Three suggestions are put forward for the
preparation of the extracurricular reading recommended bibliographies: considering various factors and
formulating scientific and rational recommended standards comprehensively; referring to the experience of
foreign countries; and ensuring the diversity of works to be included in the bibliographies.
