Abstract: The original text of Bao’s Collection in the edition of Song dynasty was printed in Xiaozong
reign of Song dynasty. Its feature indicates that it dates bak to the manuscript in Tang dynasty and belonged
to Early Collection of Six Dynasties, therefore, it corrected the wrong ideas that Bao’s Collection was a
re-compilation of the edition of Song dynasty. Bao’s Collection, compiled by Yu Yan in Qi-liang dynasty,
is known as Qilu with six volumes recorded in the book. Xiao Zixian and Zhongrong’s review of Bao’s
Collection was based on this edition. Part of poems from other writers may be compiled in Bao’s Collection.
The edition printed by Zhu Yingdeng in Ming dynasty was based on the edition of Song dynasty, which had
some misused characters and missing words, so it’s not the same as the original text. The edition of Song
dynasty is the best annotated edition of Bao’s Collection.
