A Study on the Theory of Hereditary Conservation of Ancient Books

Abstract: Since the 21st century, the most common classification of ancient books conservation are primordial conservation and regeneration conservation. Along with the social development, it is necessary to incorporate the intangible cultural heritage conservation to the ancient books conservation. According to the concept of the cultural inheritance, the conservation of ancient books is extended to heredity conservation. The concept of hereditary conservation is rooted in intangible cultural heritage, whereas its form is live transmission, made up of inheritance subject, inheritance site, inheritance content, and inheritance method. The essence of the hereditary conservation is that the ancient books conservation practitioners and enthusiasts will promote in various ways, demonstrate through exhibition, lecture, experience, folk custom demonstration, Internet communication, and cultural and creative development, and interpret the fine traditional culture, academic connotation and art contained in ancient books. Hereditary conservation involves more extensive participation and exerts more profound influence. It is urgent to identify and study the hereditary conservation of ancient books in order to jointly promote the development of ancient book conservation.
