Abstract: In order to investigate into the reading habits and preferences of post-00s college students,
and to put forward tailored reading guidance strategies, this paper conducts a questionnaire survey among
universities in many cities throughout the country, carries out statistical analysis of the survey results, and
makes a comparative study. The results show that, although the reading status of the post-00s freshmen is
not ideal, they hold positive feelings and respect for paper reading and classics reading, which indicates
good foundations for reading promotion. Based on the survey data and comparative analysis, the paper
puts forward reading guidance strategies that consist of 1) optimizing library reading promotion work
planning, 2) implementing detailed guidance mechanisms for reader groups of different subjects, 3) taking
classics as the core of reading promotion work, 4) promoting in-depth reading by way of paper books,
5) giving full play to the impact of experts and senior students, 6) enhancing the connotation and fun of
reading activities, and 7) launching reading programs supporting college students’ academic achievement
and spiritual improvement. The paper illustrates the effectiveness of the strategies with exemplary
cases.
