An Analysis of the Formation of the Literature Carrier in the Yin and Zhou Dynasties

Abstract: The history of the ancient writing materials of China can be traced back to the Yin and Zhou
Dynasties. To explore the literature form in those periods and related problems has a very important
significance to research the history of early libraries in China and it can also solve some important
theoretical and cognitive problems. By making use of the related knowledge and inscriptions on oracle
bones, the masterpieces of literature and other materials, this paper mainly analysizes the following aspects:
the early books and records of China are made up of bamboo sheets. Oracle materials are mainly divination
materials, not books nor files; the books and records in Yin and Zhou Dynasties are mostly saved by
historiographers, and historiographers play a very important role in the formation of the early books and
records.
