Analysis on the Status Quo and Trends of Big Data Research in the Field of International Library and Information Science

Abstract: This paper uses co-word analysis and word frequency analysis to analyze the thematic
direction, evolution characteristics, research hotspots, and frontiers of big data research in the field of
international library and information science. The results show that six research directions of different
scales have formed in the field, namely, business intelligence and big data analysis, artificial intelligence
and information science, social network analysis and social media, data ethics and personal privacy,
information technology and information management, as well as library and data literacy. Big data, artificial
intelligence, data analysis, and data mining have always been the focus of the academic circle, while social
media, machine learning, sentiment analysis have become new research hotspots in 2018. The topics of data
management, information systems, knowledge management, machine learning, and the Internet of Things
have become the frontier topics in the current research.
