Abstract: This paper reviews how Chen Duxiu, Li Dazhao, Zhang Shenfu and Mao Zedong propagated
Marxism and established the Communist Party of China when working at the Peking University Library.
Taking Du Dingyou and Liu Guojun’s library career as examples, this paper discusses the usefulness
of library science and observes that library science is the science about libraries, and dedication to the
development of libraries is the most basic spirit of library science.
