The Rectification of Etymology of “the Sort of Literature and History is Used to Evaluate the Success and Failure of Writers”

Abstract

Abstract: When Qian Jibo citing “Zhongxing Yiwenzhi: ‘the sort of literature and history is used to evaluate the success and failure of writers’”, he put Zhongxing Yiwenzhi mistaken for Zhongxing Shumu, the sentence is quoted by many scholars today. More than that, other scholars put Zhongxing Yiwenzhi mistaken for Zhongxing Guange Shumu or Zhongxing Guange Yiwenzhi. In fact, Zhongxing Yiwenzhi is the abbreviation of Zhongxing Guoshi Yiwenzhi in Wenxian Tongkao. Because Zhongxing Yiwenzhi had disappeared, and Zhongxing Shumu was famous as well, the two books were mixed up by scholars.
