Abstract:

The demand and supply of librarians in the United States influences not only the librarians’ income but also their social status and occupational prestige. The American librarian occupation has become an important working opportunity for the graduates and the diversity of librarians has become a debatable topic. Because of its occupational stability and increased income, the occupational prestige and social status of the American librarians have been enhanced greatly, and the library job has become an ideal position for many American college graduates. By analyzing supply-demand and occupational prestige of librarians in USA, we can conclude that the demand will continue to grow, occupation prestige has improved, but the occupation income is yet to be raised.
