Comparative Studies of College Students Reading Behaviors in China and Abroad and Thoughts on University Library Reading Promotion

Abstract: The overall growth and innovation capability of university students are impossible without reading. University library with extensive resources for reading should contribute to improving the students’ interest in reading and their reading skills. The article discusses the research of reading literacy and reading promotion, as well as significance of reading education for students’ ability of innovation, and investigates into college students’ reading behaviors both at home and abroad. It then analyzes the causes of the difference in such behaviors and reflects on the problems existing in reading education and promotion on the part of university library in China.
