Abstract:

In the era of artificial intelligence (AI), librarians must not only integrate AI technologiesinto library services but also assume leadership roles in AI ethics and applications. This paper aimsto identify the primary service models and strategic approaches for promoting AI-driven academic innovation in academic libraries by examining the AI-supported services provided by leading global academic institutions. We conducted an investigation and analysis of the AI service models and offerings across 33 top university libraries, focusing particularly on the pioneering practices in the field. We propose that Chinese academic libraries select AI service models tailored to their specific contexts and enhance their offerings through a combination of AI-related courses, the dissemination of open datasets orprograms, the establishment of AI library hubs/studios, and participation in generative AI writing research alliances. This approach will facilitate the development of a new form of interaction that integrates both online and offline experiences, adapting effectively to technological advancements.
