Abstract:

In the context of new liberal art, the construction of the Digital Humanities Laboratory(DHL) for the cultivation of digital talents and the improvement of digital skills and digital thinking isat the right time. As an interdisciplinary public service unit of the University, the university library hasan irreplaceable advantage. The paper investigates the current state of the selected DHL in colleges anduniversities at home and abroad, compares those labs in terms of their research directions, achievements, infrastructures, and technological methods, and, by way of elaborating on the concept of “shared scene, analyzes the four constituent elements and four critical nodes of creating DHL in libraries. Taking thelibrary at Shanghai International Studies University as an example, this paper explains how to integratethe four constituent elements into the construction of the DHL: space-time presentation, infrastructure, participants, and interactive experience. Also, it explores the integration model of the collaborationbetween the library and discipline programs under the context of new liberal arts. Finally, it suggests thatDHL pays attention to the four key elements: space, platform, training, and management so that DHL canmeet the needs not only of education but also of talent training.
