Abstract: The dissemination of cultural information by museum plays an important role in meeting
the diversified cultural needs of the public and enhancing the competitiveness of Chinese culture. From
the perspective of the subject of library, information and archive science in China, museums are regarded
as one of the organizations responsible for the integration of cultural digital information resources. The
purpose of this paper is to identify the core authors in library, information and archives science in China
that have published in this area; to explore their most significant research contributions; and to analyze
the hotspots of research as they merged from the literature. The study is based on a literature review
of CNKI database’s publications from 1996 to 2019 and focuses on CSSCI papers only. The study used
the CiteSpace analysis software to investigate and visualize main authors, main institutions, co-citation
authors and keywords that constitute the core researchers in this topic; and to identify and explore the main
research hotpots in this area. The analysis revealed that the core strength of museum-related research in
the subject of library, information and archives science in China is associated with areas such as museum
archive management, digital resources integration, museum book conservation, and library archives. This
research also identified two peak periods of publishing, namely:1996-2008 that focused on the development,
utilization, and integration of museum literature resources, as well as protection and management of ancient

books in museums; and 2009-2019 that focused on issues such as digital cultural resources integration and 

cooperation mechanisms. Finally, the paper discussed these peaks and provided an in-depth discussion
of the most significant research hotspots, namely the integration of digital resources, which aimed to
discover an effective way to build cooperation mechanisms and principles among libraries, archives, and
museums, and to build information sharing platforms to meet the increasingly diversified cultural needs of
the citizens.
