The Strengths of the Prediction Markets being Applied to the Technology Foresight: 20 Dimensions Empirical Studies for 13 Commonly Used Methods of Technology Foresight

Abstract

Abstract: By means of text mining, this article analyzed more than one thousand research papers of technology foresight methods collected in CNKI between 1979 to 2013, and summarized the existing technology foresight methods into 13 common categories. Then the article compared these 13 categories from 20 perspectives, and concluded four major advantages of the prediction markets as a forecasting method: collective wisdom, more innovative, platform-style of organizing, and more flexibility. The article advocates for the wider application of prediction markets in the end.
