A Comparative Study of Chinese and Foreign Libraries Participating in Contemporary International Cultural Exchange Programs

Abstract: By comparing the operation of Chinese and foreign libraries in international cultural exchangeprograms the study sorts out common practices and the commonality in operation goals values andapproaches explores the differences in operation modes and supporting methods and puts forward thedirection and focus of future development so as to promote the development of Chinese libraries international exchange in good direction. The study also takes the  Window of Shanghai programlaunched by the Shanghai Library as a typical case and shows the positive impact and unique value ofChinese libraries  participation in international cultural exchange by stating the history and development ofthe program and highlighting physical book donation e-book donation and cultural exchange as corecontents of the program.
