Exploration and Practice of Embedded Data Services for Humanistic Research in University Libraries under the Background of New Liberal Arts

Abstract:

The construction of new liberal arts disciplines has attracted wide attention from various sectors of Chinese society. With the development of new liberal arts disciplines, data has gradually become a key research element and fundamental resource in the humanities. Driven by digital development and user demand, data services have gradually become one of the basic services provided by research-oriented university libraries. This article starts with the embedded data services oriented towards humanities research in the context of new liberal arts, analyzing and discussing its connotations. Through the practice of embedded data services in “Chinese Story Indexing and Interpretation,” this article discusses data construction, data management, and disciplinary research services in embedded data services targeting at new liberal arts disciplines. Embedded data services not only extend the traditional data service model of university libraries but also expand new technological services, further enhancing the data service capabilities of libraries in the new liberal arts. In this new data service model, university libraries also face the challenges of role transformation, upgrading of data services, and reorganization of professional relationships.
