Abstract:

This article presents key insights gathered by the author during their participation in selectsessions of the 88th World Library and Information Congress (WLIC2023) held in Rotterdam, Netherlandsin 2023. The 88th WLIC showcased the evolving role of libraries as centers of innovation and knowledge. Under the theme “Let’s work together, let’s library,” the congress attracted over 3,000 delegates frommore than 100 countries, reigniting the perception of libraries as vibrant hubs of knowledge. This articleexplores ten thematic sub-conferences of the congress, including responsible AI usage, addressing toxicleadership, controlled digital lending, ensuring library accessibility, and the transformative potential of AIin academic libraries. Participants emphasized the potential of AI while also highlighting concerns relatedto privacy, bias, and information literacy education. The research methods employed encompassed datacollection, observations, and interviews with scholars and professionals. The discussion and reflectionsection underscored the potential of AI in libraries, emphasizing the significance of privacy, transparency,and AI literacy. Furthermore, this article delves into topics such as toxic leadership, library publishing,cybersecurity, and inclusive practices. It underscores the need for leadership to recognize the harmsof toxic leadership and promote inclusivity, advocacy for collaboration with the disability community,employee training, and designing for all. In conclusion, this article offers valuable insights into librarytrends, providing guidance on AI integration, workplace challenges, digital lending practices, and ensuringinclusivity.
