Abstract: This research investigates how “women’s studies” is categorized in the following 4 bibliographic classifications: Library of Congress Classification (LCC), Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC), Universal Decimal Classification (UDC), and Chinese Library Classification. Then, a comparative study is conducted to evaluate the responsiveness of the bibliographic classifications above to the emerging interdisciplinary fields. Finally, suggestions are provided such as establishing a regular revision mechanism for the Chinese Library Classification, enhancing research on information organization and service in interdisciplinary fields, and paying attention to the social and cultural correlation among classes.
